2013 Dodge Avenger Overview Is the 2013 Dodge Avenger a Good Used Car? The 2013 Dodge Avenger is a poor choice if youre shopping for a used midsize car. Used Avenger models tend to be some of the least expensive models to buy in this class, but cheaper isnt necessarily better. The Avenger has low fuel economy, a below-average reliability rating, no advanced safety features, and one of the worst interiors in the class. Many midsize sedan alternatives are much more refined and reliable, including the 2013 Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, and Hyundai Sonata. Used 2013 Dodge Avenger Performance and Interior Dodge offers the Avenger with two engine options: a four-cylinder with 173 horsepower, and a V6 with 283 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. A four-speed automatic is available, but only on four-cylinder SE models. The four-cylinder engine provides adequate pep around town and decent passing power, but the V6 offers much stronger acceleration with only a minimal drop in fuel efficiency. The V6 gets 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, and the four-cylinder nets 20-30 mpg city-highway. That said, both ratings are rather low by class standards. The Avenger cant back up its sporty looks with equally sporty handling, but its no slouch. The steering is quick and responsive, the sedan feels stable around sharp turns, and the brakes provide good stopping power. The SE and SXT models ride comfortably as well. However, the Avenger R-T has a stiffer sport-tuned suspension and larger wheels, which yield a harsher ride on rough pavement but do little to enhance handling.
